The True Power Of Reiki Symbols

Hello everyone

Still raining :-( But what is nice is that Ben, DC’s friend, is here for the weekend. Some of you may remember he was our ‘house guest’ in Cornwall, then came with us when we moved to Heaven on a Hilltop and then he joined the Royal Navy :-)

Having people to stay is like a breath of fresh air blowing through your house as they bring new ideas, tales of adventures and they unsettle everything that was beginning to feel hum drum.

Then they disappear again and leave you to re-organise your life but hopefully not as it was before… they create a space when they leave so you can make the adjustments needed for adding that MORE to your life I was talking about last week :-)

Oooh-errr! Those changes are afoot :-)

But first I had best answer a question… :-)

The question…

Q… You mentioned that the symbols don’t really mean anything, that they simply give us focus.

Could I substitute symbols and words that are simpler for me to understand? For example, instead of the power symbol and name, substitute the word POWER and a lightening bolt?

Or is it important to use the ancient pictures and words?

I realize the ancient symbols would be more impressive or “mystical” to use in a healing of someone else, but I’m not a real mystical person, just someone who is pulling out of 30 years of stagnant Christianity and trying to actually become spirit-filled.

And my answer…

Hi L

I have been asked this same question several times before and I know my answer confuses a few people :-)

But you are right; the symbols are just that, symbols.

They have NO power or meaning other than that which YOU give them.

But the more people who assign a meaning to a symbol the more ‘powerful’ it becomes.

Just think of the cross or swastika and you’ll get my drift :-)

So I would suggest that if you wish to do ‘Usui Reiki’ then you need to be familiar with the use and names and drawing of the given and generally accepted Usui Reiki symbols.

Yes, I know there are many variations of all these generally accepted symbols too - but mostly they are fairly similar and represent the generally accepted given meanings.

This builds a belief, fine tunes your focus and then…

…if you see the Power symbol, or hear its name, or just think about it, it will pull from within you that particular facet of energy…

…because you believe it to be so - as does everyone else working with Usui Reiki :-)

You see, when starting anything new, we draw immense benefit from the structures and instructions already in place.

Much like using a new cake recipe or knitting pattern.

If you closely follow the instructions you will get a similar result each time.

So, first get into the ‘habit’ of using the symbols and by the time you have done that - by the time they are second nature to you - you will not need them :-)

One of those dichotomy things again…

By the time you are at one with your Reiki you will just need to be YOU… a steady, strong, calm and assertive energy that brings comfort and confidence to all you meet.

I feel the Reiki symbols are practical tools not mystical symbols.

But NEVER FORGET that whatever the signs and symbols you decide to use… it is YOU who assigns them their POWER.

For YOU are the source of the POWER behind it all…

…never the other way around.

Once you understand and know this about Usui Reiki symbols, then you can go on to devise your own… which will then become your own brand of Reiki :-)

Get the hang of one system of Reiki first and then your own variety will be even stronger.

Well I’d best get back to our whirlwind visitor and see what changes we need to make in our life – I’m looking forward to there being very many… ha ha ha!!!

Till next week folks :-)
