Good mornin’ all…
I’ve said enough about my new pet project, the C B D oils, recently so here’s something completely different altogether! 🙂
Not all the questions I get asked are directly about Reiki, but they are about energy, and as you all know by now, there is only One Energy, so…
What are your thoughts on the superstition “break a mirror and have 7 years bad luck?”
And I replied:
A ‘superstition’ is really only a belief that is held and perpetuated by a group of people.
And because they all club together, that belief becomes stronger and therefore produces the desired results that the belief implies.
This desired result hereby ‘proves’ they were right and strengthens the groups beliefs about the superstition.
But let’s actually take the 7 years bad luck theory, created by looking into a broken mirror, as an example.
Many years ago, a mirror was a luxury, afforded by very few people but the rich.
The rest had to make do with muddy water 🙂
And most mirrors were small, and hand held.
So, imagine now, what deep doo-doo you’d be in if you broke your Mum’s pride and joy! 🙁
Or, heaven forbid, you were the maid or cleaner, who broke her mistress’s mirror. Think King Arthur times… ha ha ha!
Seven years bad luck would seem like fair punishment, ‘cos it would probably take 7 years pay to replace it!
But the saying stuck and it means nothing today. Mirrors are cheap and everywhere.
Tell me, do you tremble if you go into a public loo and before you realise, you catch your reflection in the mirror and the mirror is broken above the wash basin?
And, so it is with ALL superstitions… ALL superstitions!
One saying is ‘seeing is believing’…
But that’s back to front.
It’s ‘Believing creates the seeing’… 🙂
What you believe, you conceive 🙂
Simply change your belief and you’ll create 7 years fabulous good fortune!
You may find yourself searching out broken mirrors in public loos and admiring yourself in them, just for the ‘good fortune magic’ to rub off on you … ha ha ha!
Life shows you that in every cloud there is a silver lining, somewhere, for someone.
Let that person be you!
Sit quietly every day and give yourself some Reiki.
Ponder these things which are a quandary to you.
Allow the Reiki to calm you and still your mind so the answers will come.
It’s odd how we can so easily be led to believe a negative superstition, without giving it a second thought as to why, yet we have trouble believing a ‘good omen’ without plenty of protestations and deliberations as to why we should!
Bring on the ladders and black cats I say! 🙂
Always look on the bright side of life… (sing along) 🙂
And I believe you’ll have a personally powerful, Chikara-Reiki-Do weekend 🙂
