Hi, I’m Judith Conroy of Chikara-Reiki-Do, and I’m answering your questions on Reiki.
What part do you treat, when a person has a stroke? Or do you treat any part that’s been slightly affected by the stroke?
You do not need to give specific healing to a specific area.
Nor do you need to treat ‘the condition’.
Simply give a general Reiki session and trust that the outcome will be perfect for all concerned.
Go through using the 12 hand positions but, trust whatever you sense or feel when touching the person…
…and be guided by those feelings.
Move your hands to any area you feel drawn to touch, and stay there for as long as it feels right to do so.
Now, as we’re dealing with a stroke question…
This can be very helpful too:
The 4 signs of a stroke:
1. Ask the person to smile. Notice is it lopsided
2. Ask the person to speak a simple sentence. For example, ‘Where do you live’, and listen to how coherent they are.
3. Ask the person to raise both arms. Is one side weaker than the other?
4. Ask the person to stick out their tongue. If the tongue is crooked, or if it goes to one side or the other, that could also be an indication of a stroke.
If the person has any trouble with any of these tasks:
Then call the emergency services immediately, and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
They’ll be glad you did!
Thanks for listening
